Shibori Dyeing – Driftless Folk School
July 13 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm$65
Registration Deadline: 7/6/2019
Shibori is a Japanese technique of fabric folding and binding that makes repetitive patterns on fabric when used with Indigo dyeing. We will use clips, tubes, and other items to manipulate our cloths then dye them in vats of Indigo dye. This will be a fun and kind of addictive day when we explore the magical oxygen reactive properties of Indigo and the many possibilities of Shibori folding. Students should bring a white 100% cotton twin-sized flat sheet that will be divided into multiple batiks. Items like napkins, flour sack towels, handkerchiefs, and other all white cotton dyeable items. A few items for extra dyeing will be available for purchase at the class. Students will also need to bring a long-cuffed pair of thick household chore gloves.
Instructor: Martha Buche
Class fee: $45, material fee: $20
