Viroqua Skate Park

It's Time to Make it Happen...
The Project has Begun...
The 90'x72' concrete pad for the skate park was poured on July 1 and volunteers are now working on grading and landscaping the rest of the lot to have it ready when the skate park equipment arrives on the week of July 14. Please contact Terry Noble (608-632-1104) if you would like to help out with the landscaping or installing of the split rail fence. A grand opening celebration with competitions and prizes is tentatively scheduled for July 26. More information will be posted on that in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks to the City of Viroqua, the volunteers and the skaters themselves, the Three Week Fundraising Blitz in June raised $10,000 for a grand total of $50,000 in the equipment fund. This allowed us to purchase nearly everything in the $64,000 final design except the half pipe which we hope to install next year.
The "First Installation" of equipment that will be installed this summer is shown below as well as the "Final Design".

Viroqua Skate Park Background
The local group of skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX biking supporters began an effort about six years ago to create a skate park in Viroqua. They raised $4,500 through donations, fundraising and a grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. The City of Viroqua also purchased a piece of property adjacent to the Park Bowl (just west of the softball field on South Street, sometimes referred to as the "Morrison Property") to locate the skate park.
Although the initial effort did not result in creation of the skate park, a new group of volunteers took up the cause in 2007, and with a donation of $5,000 from the City of Viroqua, began fundraising to turn the dream into a reality. The new group has raised $40,000 so far for a total of $50,000 in the equipment fund, over 3/4ths of the way to the $64,000 goal.
Site preparation began last summer and the concrete pad was poured on June 1.
The first round of equipment will be installed on the week of July14.
There will be no admission charge to the new park and it will be open to skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX style bikes.
