Extreme Flow Skateboard Competition !
July 10, 2010

   Viroqua hosted an Extreme Flow Skateboard Competition on Saturday, July 10. The competition was part of the first annual Extreme Flow 2010 Optimist International SWIS District Skateboarding Competition Series held in cities throughout the Wisconsin area. The winners at each city advance to the championship competition in Madison on October 16.

The competition featured three divisions - Beginner, intermediate and expert. The top three winners in each division qualified to compete at Madison. Prizes were awarded for the top 5 finishers at each level at the Viroqua competition.

Grand Opening Celebration!
Aug. 2, 1-4 pm, 2008
   
   The skate park opened on July 19 and a grand opening celebration with refreshments, competitions and prizes took place on Saturday, Aug 2, from 1-4 pm.  About 100 skaters, family and friends attended.

Landscaping and Site Preparation
July 3 to July 18, 2008
   
   The 90'x72' concrete pad for the skate park was poured on July 1 and volunteers and skaters graded and landscaped the rest of the lot to have it ready for the arrival of the first round of skate park equipment on July 14.

THREE WEEK FUNDRAISING BLITZ!
May 19 to June 9, 2008
   
   Skaters, parents and organizers raised an additional $10,000 for skatepark equipment just before the equipment order was placed on June 9.

Final Design & Informational Meeting,
Thursday, May 15, 2008, 7 pm -- WWTC Room 116
   
   Skateboarders and supporters met to review the skatepark final design, and to see what equipment will be purchased for the first phase of the installation in late June. The group also identified ways to raise money over the next month to increase the equipment that we can purchase in the first phase.

Skate Park Design Meeting ,
Monday, August 20, 7 pm -- WWTC Community Room
   
   Skateboarders, parents and other supporters worked as a group to come up with a proposed final design for the Viroqua Skate Park.


2nd Fundraiser Car Wash,
Saturday, August 25, 11 am - 2 pm -- North Kwik Trip parking lot
   
   A second fundraiser Car Wash was held at the north Kwik Trip in Viroqua on Saturday, August 25, from 11 am to 2 pm.   Kwik Trip's outdoor spigot broke at 1 pm so the car wash had to be cut short by an hour, but the event raised over $300 for the skate park.

Sunday, July 22, 2-5 pm -- Village Market Parking Lot
One Day Skate Park Demo Tour,
   Viroqua skateboarders had a chance to try out their new skate park one year early – if only for an afternoon. American Ramp Company (ARC), a manufacturer of modular skate park equipment, set up a sample skate park in the Village Market parking lot on July 22, from 2 to 5 pm.  About 40 to 50 local kids skated at the event.
This Event Raised $300 in brat and hot dog sales for the Skate Park.

June 16, 2007  --  10 am to 2 pm, North Kwik Trip in Viroqua
Fundraiser Car Wash:
A fundraiser Car Wash was held at the north Kwik Trip in Viroqua on Saturday, June 16, from 10 am to 2 pm.   Advance car wash tokens were sold by supporters prior to the event.  The tokens are good at other Skate Park Car Washes held throughout the summer.
This Event Raised $600 for the Skate Park!

June 11, 2007  --  7 pm, WTC Community Room
Second Meeting for supporters of the Viroqua Skate Park:
Anyone (adults and kids) interested in helping turn the dream of a Viroqua Skate Park into a reality should attend.  We will discuss the recent developments in the project and set up a schedule of fundraising campaigns and strategies which may include brat and hot dog sales, car washes and donation drives aimed at both individuals and businesses within the Viroqua area.

May 21, 2007  --  7 pm, WTC Community Room
Initial Informational Meeting for supporters of the proposed Viroqua Skate Park:
Approximately 30 adults and kids attended the initial meeting. We discussed the background, location, preliminary design, cost and future phases of the project. We also came up with a list of fundraising campaigns and activities. Individual supporters will be setting up some of these fundraising activities and they will be posted on this website. $1,200 was donated to the Viroqua Skate Park Fund at the meeting by some of the supporters. A list of people and businesses who have donated to the project will be included on this website in the near future.

How You Can Help Make it Happen  -- Participate, Donate & Stay Informed
   The Viroqua Skate Park Committee has put together a multi-phase plan to create a skate park at the Park Bowl in Viroqua using donations, grants and community fundraisers. Everyone can help with this effort either through donations or through participation in one of the many fundraising events. All of these events will be promoted within the community and posted on this website.
