Viroqua City Council voted to continue with the sidewalk hazard program this year for the SW quadrant, with one exception, that all tax assessments will not be applied until 2021. This provides an additional year before the bill is applied on to the tax roll. Everyone with a sidewalk hazard will receive a notice and have time to remedy the hazard on their own accord if they so choose. If the City contractor repairs the hazard, the property owner can choose to pay the bill by the due date listed on the invoice from the City or, after that date, it will automatically be paid through tax assessment over 1-4 years (depending on the amount) starting with the 2021 taxes.
Safe-Step is currently surveying hazards and putting orange numbers on the sidewalk hazards in the SW quadrant of the City.
