Craft Family Juneteenth Dedication at Viroqua Cemetery

VCHS Juneteenth Dedication | Viroqua Cemetery | June 17 @ 6pm

The Vernon County Historic Society will be honoring the new stone over the previously-unmarked graves of three African Americans — mother, father, and daughter — who lived and died in Viroqua in the late 19th century. The dedication will include local actor Dodie Whitaker portraying Lottie Craft to tell the story of the family, local American Legion members honoring Jefferson Craft’s Civil War service, and Rev. Margaret Hoverson blessing the new stone. Bring your own seating for the ceremony, rain date Monday June 26.
