Paper Mache Class

In this workshop, Mexican folk artist, Gabriela Marvan, will teach participants an introduction to cartoneria (a technique similar to paper mache). Students will make a skull using basic forms, modeling newspaper, and covering with layers of paper with engrudo (the glue used with this technique is made with flour and water). We will make a Calavera (decorated skull) with assorted elements such as flowers or butterflies. The calavera will be part of an exhibition at the 2nd annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on Saturday, October 8.
